Your hero should get +4damage else its bugged. And no you dont really need a weapon or be nearby. Ow and it still splitses we are working on it though, hard to fix .

the invincibility status has stuck with several players
it seemed to "fix" once they change characters

My opinion as a HAE fan:
The forge thing for boosting +4 damage didn't work for me.
Hero skill window really nice
I also wasn't able to get more than 180 people in a house of 1000. I guess the max amount of people starts too high. It would be nice if mana (people) got faster and houses started with less max mana.
Also, I think the market place should sell stuff to heroes with gold or something. The gold kinda gets useless quickly. Maybe a convert gold -> silver ?
I don't agree with max peasants for lumber. I like to make tons of them. I liked the tech tree for getting more lumber.
Is there air units in empire ? Didnt see them.
I miss the tents that became big ivory towers.
Black market stuff is too expensive for what it gives.
My general opinion: this version has better heroes, better terrain, better camps, better quests, but worse empires =(.

i agree with the above in every way except the 'worse empires =('
The empires are weaker, but that is because you must rely on your hero. The problem is that it is almost a burden to try and have an empire while still having a hero. There should be more benefit for heroes to have an empire, i think. A teleport(units to hero or hero to units, either one) would probably be the best thing i can think of.

The houses were ment to be like that, the mana isn't really right because you always have 1000 more mana then the house actually uses. (required for overflow reasons) The gold was primary ment for researches but i think that there should be something else as well i just dunno what yet. Ow and converting gold to silver would be soooo imba then everyone would have an empire just for the cash .

hi i've never posted but i've been skimming the forum since i started playing hae1 a long time ago, and i just wanna say congratulations on putting out an hae2 alpha. i enjoy it, although net splits are kind of ruining it atm; im sure you'll get that fixed sometime though.
however, there are two things that bug me. one of which you've covered already, and thats teleporting back to your empire if you have one, which i strongly believe should be implemented.
the other thing is how slowly i got silver with my hero. i played a game where i killed stuff nonstop, mostly going to and from quests, and leveled really fast, without making that much money. it kind of sucks when you're level 40 and can still only make a paltry income, even killing most of the stuff in quiryl's house. i would love to see xp rewarded for quests cut in half or maybe more, and have a financial reward in addition to xp.
also i liked being an empire much much more in hae1, and i wish the empire was more complex in this one, but i know you can't change something fundamental, so i won't bug you about it

thx and ye we do have some issues with the server split. kind of annoying since we cant find what causes it. the teleport system now is way less imba than in hae1. we did put in a teleport staff to teleport back but goes with the costs of alot of silver and an inventory slot (and also a 2min cooldown). quests should give you quite some money and exp, maybe this is still a bit unbalanced but a fast way of getting money is doing quests. also, dont forget to look back cause theres a small % drop rate on creeps of dropping gems which make alot of money when you sell them. i also noticed the joy of empire faded. less people play empire, hae2 became more of a orpg game. maybe things of empire should get back the way they were?

yes!! add some more tech trees or something also, i didnt notice getting any money period from quests, just xp. ill check again when i get another game in sometime.

Well, like you said it, empire is less interesting in hae2. I'm sure I'm not the only one who believe that hae2 empire is fun. I would vote for emps building from hae1 in hae2 except with smaller farms.
I really like the auto research in hae2 though..

i like the roads better in HaE2 b/c of their size, but otherwise (from an empire player's view) HaE1 is better
although the hero system is soooo sweet in #2
