It has been a while since last thing that its still alive so here is a quick overview . I have been working on hae2 and the first alpha will be here soon (for real ) it probably will not have empire implented in it yet though. This is gonna take a bit to make. Cheers

well i guess this is the right topic to keep people up to date on HaE2 and since it's in progress once again we'll answer questions on this topic and we'll keep you up to date (or even some alpha tests)

thanks for keeping us updated tho-- good to see work is still being done. although my school year is starting, I still look forward to wasting a weeknight or two on some HaE2 empire-playing, lets hope that will be this semester

Empires can be build using the Empire item bought in starting camps for free. Empires will have a different type of tech system. All empire units will become heroes and a research will give a +1 to unit level. If you kill with units you also gain a small amount of exp. Buildings will be about the same. Roads build faster and you have an option to build a road line instead of a single road. Towers will have the same things as units have. Resources Empire only uses gold now, gained by taxes and can be mined from trees (sold for gold). There wont be food although i dont know what to replace it with. (Need more buildings i think ) Suggestions are still welcome. For now fires/and events are off, they perhaps come back when empire is a little further developed

Heroes:
Everyone starts with a hero. You can either hire mercs become a hero builder or start an empire. (Same as hae1)
Mercs: Hired from all starting camps. They cost hero gold and level like a normal hero does. (they do leech exp from heroes but way less then a normal player would)
Empire: Same as hae1 see above for empire
Builder: ----still very little done on builders They will be able to build structures like in hae1 but the resources are listed in the multiboard instead of in your inventory. The manual still costs 1 inventory space but is droppable.

Roads build faster and you have an option to build a road line instead of a single road. how about the same thing for walls? or would that make the wall a single unit...er...building? also, if you wanted to make it more realistic, you add wells to require water for the citizens. Or you could make natural springs (dunno if its possible) where you can use builders or a building to "harvest" the water

so wait... if you choose to build an empire, then does your initial hero go away? I was hoping to use my empire units alongside him and just multitask to have a powerful hero AND a grand empire. Also, you say 'mercs' is that like how it is now--- easily purchased units for heroes----or are they expensive and perhaps more powerful with higher food(unitcap) cost?
