Yet another failed game on B.net when the empire I took 2 hours to build with tesla's and hero implosion towers and all kinds of defense gets killed by some level 200 something archer that outranges everythign and destroys my empire in about 10 seconds.
Is there some secret button or thing I'm missing with this game, the heroes are so disproportionalyl powered over the empires in this game at any age. You only stand a chance in the future age unless the hero just teleports to your town hall and hits it 4 times with it's 30,000 dmg and destroys everything instantly.
Everyone plays heroes on bnet, because they know they're the only thing that matter. Empires always get screwed by even just one hero. Multiple heroes attacking your base is instant loss. Surely this wasn't the way the game was meant to be was it? If so you could just call it heroes and n00bs who build empires that get destroyed for fun.

Eh on top of that they even die to computer heroes no matter how well you play. I hunted down camps and obelisks myself and still the comptuyer generated a hero (at weak) strong enough to tear through elite musketeers one by one

Don't blame Lord_Squad if you don't know how to use empires, bit since I pity you i'll give some hints: 5 tax 12 rations, 24 woodcutters, all workforce available into commerce and some in research. ALWAYS have something researched.

Sounds good, I'm rushing to industrial in 40 mins avg now is that standard?
And what should be done about the army heroes, one of their minions is usually enough to take down a huge chunk of an empire themselves at most ages.
If the game requires this much micro with empires, would it benefit from a lot of simplifications and abstractions to help push it into the mainstream bnet crowd? I think HaE is the greatest game ever but most people give up on it too quick because there are too many little quirks associated with it. The most popular games in bnet history have been complex but simply elegant in gameplay such as DoTa , those tower defense maps, etc

Hey, i'd have helped u before but i just got back from a cruise(fun times)
if you are having a hard time, try the different profiles. if you find that you have enough resources but just cant fight them off, use tank. if you are afraid of heroes, use infantry or tower(inf owns early, tower owns once u get tesla). if you need resource, or your strategy doesnt make enough food, use resource. if you have no problems at all until the late-middle, go air. *note* air is pretty hard to master
some time this summer i'll make videos of how to win weak, maybe even average solo'd. havent played solo in a while tho, so it may take a few tries.
one last thought--- those noob empires seem to have at least one thing right--- hundreds of houses with only campfires is somehow more effective than a few with maxed municipal(like tavern/church)

^^However it take a LARGE chunk of space...more $/research but no efficiency.
Also Tesla only shine once you get them at a reasonable speed. However Defence profile+10 tower tech+ 6 best Tesla tower at each way in your base=your base will never get touched. EVER.

after 2 Hours i did Kalenden himself with Empire on Average, nearly alone
i have made mass of screenshots
well that shows that empire isnt weak, empire is harder than heros, if u play it right

this is why you play with a friend hero
focus on woodcutting and getting your defense set up for the first minutes of the game and you can hire him at 100% because it doesnt really matter how much tax you get if you dont have houses yet, that way you can have your friend hero be insanely higher level than the others in the game.
i usually fire mine when hes lvl 24 or so, and most other players would be lvl 4-6 at that time

empires will need less time to get strong enough to handle a hero in the beginning on the next update, i think late empire is quite well balanced

I'm fairly good at building an empire, and I don't think I've seen anyone be able to match my strength at any point in the game with a hero... Even when you get to Kal, the hero has to be atleast lvl 200+ ifthey want to get anywhere.. and yet a horde of laser troops will completely rock him.
