my friend and i have been playing this great map a few times, one as empire the other as a hero(builder). we have found it hard for us both to survive when the ogres.(mind you we have not been able to try new 7.2) i am woundering if it would be possable to allow the empire to get stronger towers faster. unless this has been balanced out in 7.2...T%HO

im actually surprised you didnt play 7.2 since its been published almost a year ago. [ftp]http://heroesandempire.proboards37.com/index.cgi?board=newthings&action=display&thread=1104585838[/ftp] this is where you can find the information about updates till 7.2 a newest "patch" (Heroes and Empires II) is in progress though, it wont be too long till it gets published

well building heros for "wanderers" would be cool somewhat like small camps instead of a full fledge city (empire) they could run small camps and generate small amounts of extra income for there hired empire and one day i shall learn to unprotect maps I SHALL HAVE MY ENGINEER HERO THAT BUILDS TANKS HE CAN RIDE IN ... ok maybe not but still ok u cant read that im im gonna list my shit below
builder hero - builds small camps that generate small amounts of extra income for his empire buildings: large tent:acts as the main building for the camp resources are recieved here (like the tick system) tent:generates taxes (maximum 10 tents) which would have something like a empire tax system only its maximum would be 5 tax (uses rations from its empire with a maximum of 8 rations) so u cant just drain all ur empires food military tent:soldiers are trained here (this is somewhat like the general system in 7.2 only troops have LONG train times exept they come out in groups ex:you buy 1 axeman for 300 gold and 150 wood when it completes training 6 come out of the tent. more realistic then the basic 1 unit at a time system also if u wanted seriosly kickass ideas for heros n empires 2 you should play age of empires 2 lots of kickass things you could adapt scout tower: (watch tower model) you load a (insertrangedunithere) which gives it damage like basicly it has no dmg but when it has a unit in it (4 max) it gains say... 5 dmg for lvl on unit so a basic spearthrower would give 5 dmg while a rifleman would give 10 dmg upgrades would give fortified armor and some hp (100) then model would advance to basic scout tower model.. then to guard tower.. then to cannon tower which would be final tech also if you're going to do hero idea i suggest hospital revives hero ^_^ while a builder hero for empire could build small basic empire structures not the hero builder structures which are specificly for hero builders cuz der coo the builder hero (empire) would build hut..foundation..hospital..townhall..guard tower..and that'd be it basicly like a stronger peasant except you can only get one
BRING BACK THIS DEAD FORUM!!

first of all id like to mention this forum aint dead hm... anyway, is this another version of the builder hero? cause there's already a builder hero. if heroes could work with gold it would be very confusing since empire also uses gold n wood. if u want to make a hero builder that needs for example 300 gold to build a tent, he can get it from an empire. now empires can get over millions of gold so i think this will be impossible to balance. besides, the hero builders of 7.2 are just doing fine, they will still be there in HaE 2. some buildings changed or had to be removed though. so anyway, a hero near a hospital... in your idea, would this make the hero invincible? bit hard to defeat some1 who cant die isnt it? btw i dont think you can compare empire of HaE1 with HaE2's, lots of differences, squads doing this so im not sure what will stay the same and what wont

You should make some messages apear for empire players at start so they have a clue about what to do. When I play with first timers who are empire, they almost never gets the clue about making road and houses and just walls with towers and whines about little money. Not much just a "Game - Display to (all players/empire players if you can) Start by building a Town hall and roads with houses from it" etc.

yea true, or atleast a -help command

I would prefer a command that pops up when you start the game. As an experienced player I would get highly annoyed if the first 5 minutes of the game I always saw pop-up totorials when I already knew how to play better than all the tutorials described..

those big -help popups are kinda annoying when you dont need help. i think the -help command would be best, we could still add futures to this idea like -help1 (for basics), -help2 (if you're further, on unitc, abilities, etc) and -help3 if u really wanna know everything there is to know. something like that

i remember seeing this simple help system in a game called Vampire Hunters... its one of those oldschool-but-fun-as-hell games that was sadly underdownloaded. It went like this:
You'd type -help to activate the get-started tutorial. subsequent typings would advance to the next part, so you could learn at your own pace. For example,
1 press: Follow the roads to find the villagers to kill. Killing people will turn them into zombies which will attack the human town in the middle. After a villager is killed, their soul is released and tries to run to the human altar. Kill the soul to claim it and add it to the Soul Stockpile (wood).
2 press: Use the souls to summon undead at night from your Crypts to attack the town. More powerful undead, such as the Banshee and Wight, become available with more claimed souls.
3 press: Your ultimate goal is to destroy the Altar of Kings located in the dead center of the map. Work together with your undead, zombies, and fellow vampires to acclompish this goal.
Thats the Vampire side of the help menu -- part of it, anyway. Theres also a Tips system that will show you some neat quick tips when you dont have time for the full help. Tips are randomly generated.
Vampire tip 1 -- Zombie blood is bad for you! Attacking zombies will damage you as well (to prevent feeding prevention for humans)
Vampire tip 2 -- The Altar of Kings is sacred, and will damage any vampire who attacks it directly. Leave the altar to your Undead -- They are immune to it.
Human tip 1 -- Never forget that your ultimate goal in the game is to defeat 15 vampires before the altar of kings is destroyed. Hunt them down in groups and dont forget about your nukes!
Human tip 2 -- Vampires can easily outrun, outgun, and outnumber you at night. Not to mention the town will be in constant danger from undead attack. Hunt them down at day, when they must feed on souls -- try camping the towns.
There you have it. An easy to use help system. maybe something like this could be implemented to HaE, i don't know.
