The selection system - For the most part, you're hero called the wanderer used to choose between empires or heroes. It's annoying because, it's not pretty much common sense for a newb who doesn't know what to do, or know anything about the game, he'll/she'll probably think that they're a hero, and start creeping. Give HaE2 the original wisp and circle of power selection system, it's hard to mess up unless there's major lag...
Roads- I hate the roads... They take too much space on the map, and also return them back to regular model because I can't see them, I basically switched back to 7.2 because of this.

Roads were made that way so the empire cant be small but have MASS power so you have to get more then one base or the empire would be unfair. "qoute" Well, empires need to be large, this is a quick way to take care of that. If they are 1x1, it would mean that the empire doesn't require alot of space. That way you can build a very powerful empire in just a small area... which is overpowered. You can only have 1 base as empire, but the fact that roads are so big makes it so that you need to build in two areas. This makes a very interesting problem with an obvious solution-- Make a road between the two places!!
This can prove very interesting as you can build defenses along the road and rope in a huge portion of the map to control for yourself. Give it a shot; try to build in 3-4 different spots by connecting with roads and a flak tower every few blocks. Once you reach a suitable area, make a grid and a dozen or so houses.
Really, the larger roads is not nearly as much of a problem as it may seem. The combination of only 1 town hall and larger roads is tho.
as a side note, it is possible that the 1-empire-per-person may have just been an earlier version that has since changed and I just never tried to make a second hall since...

If you can only have one base how to you build roads in a different place. There is an empire spot that is near water and i have seen them build more then one place without building a long road. Plus the roads cant be built on water.
When you make a long road the $$$ it would take to make sure it is safe would be very big and hard to get units there if your towers died.

well like i said, the 1 empire thing was as of a while ago that i tested, it could be different in 6.3.
Also, you do not NEED to defend it once it is built. After you pave your way up into the new base, just wall yourself in there and proceed as normal. This whole thing is much easier if your hero is able to solo level, since he can go ahead and clear the way while u leave a small army to defend the builders as they work.

I have to agree with him on this one, its impossible to pick on noob heroes in HaE1 if a pro highlevel gives a rats ass about their lives 'cause he can just right click near him, and boom you're a goner. To make matters worse the pros almost ALWAYS pick Ranger 'cause she is so evil with Nova and Multi Shot / Crit / Poison
multi shot for (General) profession heroes with army.
