It's really sad to think SC2 is pulling players out of WC3, 'cause SC2 is one of the worst games ever made. Seriously, it was a total dud. The multiplayer in that game sucks very badly, the campaign is very poorly made, and get this; Marines and Zealots got buffed, but Zerglings stayed as they are. The game is just unbalanced right now. SC2 is a giant money sink, and will remain that way until they change the system -- if they have any plans to. Suffice to say, I don't think Blizzard even plays their own games anymore. Anyone who did would know that would know the reason people love WC3 so much.
It's incredible capacity for moddability.
The Warcraft 3 map editor is one of the greatest tools ever created, allowing for the creation of a limitless variety of maps. I've seen everything from final fantasy battle systems to physics engines to underwater submarines to Gradius-style side-scrolling shooters and the best RPG ever created, the Kingdom of Kaliron. That's the main reason people still play Warcraft 3 now, for the incredible variety of fun maps, that just keep on coming. The World Editor is limitless. Blizzard made a very serious mistake trying to mess with that; from what I hear, they imposed a limit on mapmakers, limiting people to submitting only up to 5 maps, or 20mb worth thereof, whichever comes first.
Not only that but Warcraft 3 is also loved for its very user-friendly, intuitive yet very simple user interface. It's easy to find a game, jump in and start killing. It also sports plenty of options for controlling troops on the field, including subgroups, shift-clicking, waypoints and autocasts. Starcraft 2 dumbed down most of that, using an outdated chat system alike to MSN's, making it much harder to join games by using a 'popularity' system, where only the most popular maps (the most played) are displayed at the very top. To find the map you want you have to scroll all the way down to the bottom. To top it off, players no longer host games on their own computers -- Blizzard hosts the game on THEIR own crappy servers, and people have to join that game. I'm not sure what this means for bots, but if players can no longer host games on their own, I doubt hostbots can be used any longer. Starcraft 2 is simply not worth it AT ALL, for being a tightass, unexciting game that completely failed at being better than Warcraft 3 the Great, despite WC3 being several years older.
I think that Blizzard really hit the nail on the head with Warcraft 3. I'm not saying they shouldn't make a Starcraft 2, just that they seriously screwed it up when they did. A possible good move would be to make another Warcraft 3 expansion pack. Such a move could revitalize the game, add countless new options for players and greatly enhance the experience. Of course, with the terrible game that is Starcraft 2, it's hard to believe Blizzard could pull off such a move and not tick anyone off. The only thing theoretically stopping them from doing it however is the fact that the story basically ended after the story of The Frozen Throne was finished, and they picked up on it with World of Warcraft. It would be difficult or impossible to make another campaign, unless they set it after the story in WoW.

Can't say much about it since I never tried it, but ofcourse it's unbalanced; all games are unbalanced when they get published. Hope they will improve your comments on it, though!

Starcraft II is not a terrible game, but it is most definately not my taste. Many people actually PREFER it for its modability. It is a well-made game; the basic design of it has to be the way it is in order to fit in with the plot of the game, to look like space-age and zerk and such. I do not enjoy playing with this design, but if it was any different it would not fit starcraft. I prefer the design of Warcraft III; the more natural look and such. For example, even though starcraft II has better graphics, the way that you look at the units and such actually makes it look less real than warcraft III. In warcraft III, you are able to notice the existence of every individual unit. Starcraft II is designed to make all of the units less noticable, and you instead will notice the army as a whole. This is fine, as that is the point of starcraft II, I just don't enjoy playing it. If I had to rate the game, I would give it a 4/5, even though I do not enjoy playing it.
