Well thought I'd through a few ideas into the mix. 1st since you have it set as 3 basic classes to start from from what i seen make different paths for example -- wizard - Destruction MAGE---| | | - Alteration | | Warlock - Agony | - Conjuration
basically adding the ability to tweak your hero so you don't look like everyone elses also since Stats and spells are a big part of the HaE throwing on stat modifiers so that spells stay useful through out the game, but being conservative with it like frost wave does at level 1 does 50 damage X .01 int. So the spell Grows in power as you do but not overpowered. irritates me in games after a while spells are poop and you just end up meleeing everything since you do 5000 damage and your spell does 200 + level which comes out to 400 or something woop de do. and that could be used for str and agi heroes too. slam does 100 damage + str or something. Also IN THE SPELL BOOK where you list your spells please please but an attack move button in there so we don't have to switch from menu to menu its irritating. Another problem i've seen so far is the development rate of heroes vs empires might need to be tweaked but i can't say for sure yet as I haven't tested it thoroughly enough yet. Another thing you could add is the through out the map different ways to upgrade your already existing spells or abilities through perhaps a trainer who will train you for a price to a quest that tweaks your spell like if you have a frost wave you train from the trainer and he teaches you to empower it to the point where it will freeze an enemy solid (5% chance or somethin) for 3-5 seconds (just an idea don't flame the example its just that) Hope this gets heavily considered I would like a bit of feed back if possible and don't tell me it cant be done because i know it can ;D

good idea, thanks for posting we already had an idea for tweaking, though. these are the characters (with subclasses) we have so far: Warrior: Barbarian / Templar Thief: Ranger / Assassin Mage: Wizard / Warlock The main idea of the subclasses are to get them by doing an 'epic quest' (still to be made) After that, an idea would be to make it possible buying some spells, as you buy a 'spellbook' at a merchant. this still needs alot of work, though. but please keep ideas like these coming EDIT: maybe giving you an answer on your ideas would be nice stat points are set for each (sub)class so might as well set the damage of spells too. otherwise there's just more to balance when things wont make much difference and dont worry over the balance between heroes and empires, working on that

A Wizard is a magic user who uses fire, arcane, ice etc..
Mage would use use the same thing yes but a warlock would use shadow and fire
So make Wizard - arcane / fire Mage - arcane / ice ( better arcane) Warlock - shadow / fire ( better fire )

Royce it was an EXAMPLE I didn't actually want that exact hero tech tree implemented. I just think it would make the game alot more interesting if Final added more classes so not a bunch of the same goofy heroes running around. also 2. gives people the ability to become more of a hero of there playstyle. 3. Inables them to be unique 4. If Final does it right each hero will able to accomplish different task with a larger base of variety in hero classes and skillz.
Hopefully more support skills to encourage teamwork.
Also I know you have put in quest which is neat but I also hope you add more interaction with the map enviroment no biggy though just icing on this already amazing cake O DOOM ;D

does it matter if it was an EXAMPLE? if the IDEA was ever put in place i would have it switched around

The Mage en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MageYou can go deeper on this topic, but basicly the mage is a magician; a basic spell-caster. The Wizard en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizard_(character_class)... Is a powerful spell-caster. Unlike the warlock, this character focusses more on casting spells than the dark spells of the warlock that includes summoning creatures. I've thought about it before I made the classes and even though you might not like it: It'll probably stay this way Spells can still be changed, though... Please keep in mind that it's still on Alpha.

royce royce royce . . . LOoK here buddy. Do you know who is creating hae2? I'ts not blizzard, wikosheetia, or forgotten realms. It's finallegacy as well as lord_squad (i thinks). They will be the ones to decide what the hero class will be. It's going to be w/e the hell they want them to be. If they decide to make a warlock cast nothing but holy spells with a starfall that drops little carebears?!? thats wtf a warlock is going to be. FINALLEGACY IS DA LAW OF THIS MAP AND YOUR MASTA. He will define what the hell is what. IF he tells you eat a banana you say YES SIR AND DO IT he tells you TO STAB YOURSELF you say YES SIR AND DEW IT. He's nice enough to take suggestions from the peanut Gallery. So my suggestion to you is POST your freakin hero suggestions on my topic instead of coming on here to argue about what I suggested. You know why hae2 is taking so long ? probably all the post you made that were so retarded he has to respond. Stop the MaDneSS post legitimate suggestions or constructive critizism and move de fock on. oh and wow is FAIL

just to continue the point royce was making... mages may not be warlocks, but anyone could become a warlock. all that's really needed is a willingness to serve the forces of darkness. Perhaps we could use the Sorcerer as a base class instead of the Mage, sorcerer would be more about commanding raw power than using finesse like a wizard would.
So sorcerer could learn to control his magic better and become a wizard, or succumb to the temptation of power and become a warlock.

i guess sorcerer isnt too bad... ill see what i can do
Edit: btw its alot of 'useless' work just to change a character's name, so please dont bother me with this again royce

wow, what a flame-fest in here...
I think this idea is great and if i understand final right about some 'epic quest' it should be a neat part of the gameplay, but i hope that the quest you mention is somewhat scaled to level, so that if i wanted to i could do it after 20 minutes of levelling and after 40 and find it challenging at both times.(maybe use attacks like the rebellion towers of HaE1 that take off a % of hp?)
