I'd think it'd be cool if there were a number of different "commander" heroes that the emipres could build (only have 1 of them). They couldn't carry items or anything but they'd level up like heroes and have certain auras to help the empire out. Like a wizard hero that has brilliance for spells, or a blitzing hero that has endurance, or some tax hero that increases income.

i agree; that would be pretty sweet. but only have 1 hero, and he can be resurected if dead(another use of the 'foundation' building is transforming to altar) perhaps you could add into the gold income # a percent multiplier::: %=100+LevelOfHero_X so that your income increases a little bit for each level of experience your hero gets. if u said max hero level is 50 for heroes, then empire hero level should be max 50 as well(tho much much weaker, a lvl 50 hero should be able to barely solo 2 laser troops) and he should have no damage spells, maybe auras(trueshot/endurance/devotion) mass teleport and windwalk. also a few ideas for what heroes could be; (First 2 are resource helpers) -Lumberjack. Str based. Endurance aura, grow/ungrow abilities, can gather wood via hero ability(levels up just like aura would) and his ultimate could be 'create trees' like grow spell, but makes the trees out of nowhere, not stumps. would be able to wall someone in eventually -Businessman. Int based. Unholy aura, with more move speed than regen bonus. Pillage(the gold per attack spell) either as a passive skill he always has, or a hero skill(like woodchopping above), and corruption ultimate(as in the government kind of corruption) it would be a long-lasting version of Doom spell, eventually kills most anything and when it dies the empire gets lots of cash. (Last 2 are fighters) -Priest. Int based. Devotion aura, healing spray(currently provided by 'dagger' skill), always has divine shield(1 minute cooldown, 5+(level/10) second duration), ultimate Big Bad Voodoo(with a different name, of course) would be interesting to see him use divine shield at level 50 10seconds, and then cast voodoo for everything around him to be invuln as well. Voodoo would NOT affect heroes. -Marksman(or something with that sort of name). Agil based. Trueshot(or command, if you are so inclined)aura that would also help towers, always has a passive move of either 1-bounce glaive or windwalk(not sure which would be better balanced) also has volley(rockets spell but with arrows). ultimate is crit, 5-10% but 3 or 4x damage. Another possiblity would be a builder hero, but i cant think of skills for him other than a building-heal spell, tower-only aura, and enhanced repair spell. tower-summoning ultimate? naw, i dont think a builder hero would work very well. Looking back at what i have here, i would definitely use lumberjack or priest most of the time, the bonus to starting wood production would be awesome, and about 8 seconds of invulnerable army is awesome too(given human delay and cast times)

what about making it so all heroes are builder heroes? no more subclass system no more general or freelancer.. just make builder and don't take up a slot. or something like that... ooops wrong area oh well!

so a builder 'skill' instead of the silly book in his inventory? i think that might be an idea but a builder needs spells as well.

mmm maybe, a skill, but more I meant let all heroes be builders, give them more of a reason to pickup stuff and use it. and change around the buildings they can make maybe?

errr? how do you reduce picking up items? you mean the number of items dropped will be a lot less, and the cost of items will go down?
